David Stein Profile
David Stein, born in New York, has a history of excellence in the homebuilding, resort development and hotel industries. Since 1989, the Chairman of Stein Group International has been active in the development and operations of projects and companies in Europe, including the development of Stein Hotels and Resorts, the leading boutique hotel owner/operator of small luxury hotels in Europe with properties in London, Amsterdam, Paris, French Riviera, Tuscany, Mallorca and Sochi.
David was the co-founding partner of MedGroup, one of Spain's largest developers of resort communities, including the internationally renowned La Manga Resort. He also created and later sold Luxury Lifestyle Hotels and Resorts, a sales representation company representing 108 boutique hotels in Europe and the award-winning international magazine, “LUX”.
At age 22, David was the youngest project manager in the history of ITT Levitt and Sons, then the largest homebuilding company in the world. From 1982 to 1989, he successfully developed Monarch Beach, California, the billion-dollar resort community that includes a Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis hotel, a Robert Trent Jones Jr. links golf course, office and retail space, private and public parks, and 2,750 homes.
David has served as the President of the Robert F. Kennedy Foundation for 12 years, being the co-founder of the RFK Center for Human Rights and a founding member of the Board of the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights in Europe. He has also served as the President of the Orange County Homebuilding Association, a Trustee of The Claremont Graduate School and University, and the founding President of the Claremont Graduate School of Politics and Economics. In addition, David has been a member of the World Travel and Tourism Council. He was Chairman of the Board of Pacific National Bank from 1981 through 1992.
